My Second Pregnancy Is...

different.  Very different.  SO different, in fact, that I was 110% sure that this baby was a boy!  I was already picturing blue cloth diapers and little toy cars and "daddy's little whatever" onsies and such.  I mean, seriously, nearly everything about this pregnancy has been completely different than the first.

I threw up...  a lot...  I didn't throw up ONE TIME during the 9 months I was pregnant with Emmaline.

My skin is a disaster!  I have acne all over my face and my hands are so dry you wouldn't believe how they crack and bleed!  I had none of these issues with Emma.

My hair is still falling out!  For those of you who don't know, your hair naturally falls out every day.  I believe the average person loses about 100 strands per day.  You don't usually notice unless you have curly hair (which I do) which means the strands of hair that fall out get caught in the curls and come out in the shower.  Anyway, during pregnancy, you're supposed to stop losing your hair!  It's a hormone thing.  I'm still losing my hair!  WTF???

I'm carrying way out in front this time!  Emmaline made me big all over, this baby is riding like a basketball right in front of me.  It's a pretty cute baby bump, if I do say so myself.

My cravings are 100% different than last time.  The second trimester of my last pregnancy, I ate fruit for every meal, every day, for 3 months straight.  Not joking.  Ryan and I also ate ice cream every evening for the entire pregnancy and I could polish off a package of Whole Foods Bakery Brownies in a day (did I mention I gained over 60 pounds last time?  ahem...).  This time?  Most of the time, you can't pay me to eat sweets.  I partake every once in a while but for the first 15 weeks or so, I couldn't stomach a cookie, brownie, piece of pie...  nothing sweet at all crossed these lips!  Crazy!  This pregnancy, I crave burgers and fries and Gatorade....  weird.

Speaking of food, by this time in my last pregnancy, I had gained over 30 pounds and was getting lectured by my OB nurses.  This time, I've gained a perfect 17 pounds so far (see reference to sugar cravings above).

So....  it's not a boy!  I swear, with everything being SO DIFFERENT this time around, I KNEW it was a boy!  It's not a boy!  That's right!  We will be welcoming another little girl this May and are so excited to complete our family with our second daughter!
