I graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Colorado State University in 2006 and went on to tour with Patchwork Blue, a rock band based out of Fort Collins, Colorado, which I managed at the time. Upon our return in the Fall, I became a Social Worker and Case Manager. Shortly thereafter, I decided to pursue a lifelong dream of becoming a counselor and began working on a Master's Degree. In 2009, I finished my degree, moved to Denver with my husband, Ryan, who works in radio. I also decided to fuel my passion for yoga by becoming a certified yoga instructor.
I come from a family with addiction and personality disorders. This led me through an interesting childhood, adolescence, and early adulthood. At the age of 23, I admitted to myself and those I love that I had an eating disorder and needed help. I received that help from the incredible Dr. Dorie and found a specialty for my own counseling practice. I have used my personal experience with addiction, body image issues, and challenging family dynamics to enrich my ability to help others through similar obstacles.
Professionally, I specialize in therapy for those with food issues, eating disorders, body image problems, self-esteem concerns, family/spouse communication, behavior problems in children and adults, and anxiety disorders. In addition to counseling, I also teach yoga and perform yoga therapy! I have experience teaching to the developmentally and physically disabled, young and old, wheelchair and bedbound. I believe that everyone has a right to experience the physical, mental, and emotional freedom that comes with a yoga practice and specialize in teaching those that may not have access to a typical yoga studio setting.
I'm happy to provide initial consultations free of charge and my fees for service are always negotiable.
